Learning to Speak Spanish is Like Becoming Skilled at Walking.
- It does take resolve when babies first learn to walk. They will need to make many attempts before they can finally walk. Learning to speak Spanish is very comparable. It also takes resolve. You can't try to learn spanish for a day or two then quit. You have to keep pushing forward. We always suggest making a set time each day that you set aside for learning Spanish, and make sure to stick to it.
- There is an awkward time as babies are first beginning to walk. During this time, they sometimes fall over and aren't very confident. Learning Spanish is comparable. At first, you might feel uneasy - even wondering if people can really comprehend what you are saying. You might even feel uncomfortable trying to converse in Spanish. Do it anyway! This uncomfortable time is vital to your progress. Remember, the more you work at it, the better you'll get.
- In the beginning, babies "usually" learn to walk. When learning to speak Spanish, we need to be tolerant with ourselves and learn to "walk" before we can run. Be patient with yourself, especially if you don't know as much as you would like to know at different points in the learning process.
- With enough attempts, babies can eventually learn to run. This is very much the same with learning Spanish. After enough practice, you will eventually be able to "run". You will be able to converse fluently in Spanish with anyone - just remember - it is all about the practice and effort you put in.
